Looking for exposure to the history of the region? Look no further than the Union County Museum in the City of Union with displays of native artifacts and the material culture of the emigrants as well as the celebrated Cowboys Then & Now exhibit. Oregon Trail history unfolds at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, located south of Union County near Baker City and the Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area west of La Grande on I-84 where you can experience life as it was lived on the Oregon Trail in the 1840s. The Manuel Museum at Hot Lake Springs houses the largest collection of Native American arrowheads in North America and has exhibits on Native American culture as well as military artifacts from the Civil War to the present.
